Transitioning between nursery rooms

While we talk about our nursery rooms with an approximate age guide for each, we don’t stick strictly to this as we follow your child’s lead when it comes to transitioning between nursery rooms.

We know the cues to look for – the developmental signs that your child is ready to move to the next level and into the next room, and we’ll start to talk to you about this at the earliest opportunity.

With each child we plan a series of scheduled visits – starting with short visits accompanied by your child’s key worker. This progresses to longer, more regular visits until your child is comfortable and confident enough to make a permanent move. Sometimes the whole process takes just a few days, sometimes a few weeks, but we’ll give you regular updates and make sure that both you and your child are comfortable with how things are progressing.

Moving to new rooms can be unsettling for some children (and parents) so please talk to the team in your room if you have any concerns. Trust us – we’ve done this lots of times. We won’t move any child that we don’t feel is ready, or at a pace that might be too fast for them. As always, we’ll keep you in the loop and update you regularly.
