Frequently asked questions

Here are a few frequently asked questions, though you can always give us a bell on 01422 252112 if you’d like any more info.

  • Are you currently accepting any more children?

Sorry, we’re not currently offering any new nursery places.

  • What’s your Ofsted rating?

Our most recent inspection took place in January 2020 and we were rated “Good”. Read more about our Ofsted rating.

  • Where are you? (i.e. in Halifax and where on E! site)

Eureka! Nursery is in Halifax, West Yorkshire and sits in the grounds of Eureka! The National Children’s Museum, next door to Halifax Train Station – in fact the nursery overlooks the railway line!

We’re based in the 1855 Building – the grand old station building opposite Eureka! Museum. As you look at the building, the entrance to Eureka! Nursery is on the left hand side of the building – see below!

  • Where do I park to drop off/pick up?

There are a number of drop-off/pick-up parking bays next to the grassy play area outside Eureka! Nursery. Please note though – no u-turns! If you follow the road around there is a turning circle just behind the museum so please do use it to ensure that everyone is safe in the Eureka! Grounds. See the route on the image below.

  • Do I need to supply nappies and baby milk?

Yes, please. We ask parents and carers to bring a supply of nappies and baby milk, and we’ll let you know when the stash is running low. But don’t worry – we do have spares so if you forget or run out, we’ve got you (and your child) covered.

  • What do you do for children with allergies?

Our nursery meals are provided by caterers Apetito. You can read loads about them and see sample dishes on the Apetito website. They are experts in catering to a wide variety of dietary needs so if your child has any allergies or other requirements, just let us know. In short – talk to us, and we’ll take care of it.

  • What happens if my child gets ill at nursery?

Your child’s key worker, or member of the management team, will contact you immediately. It will depend on the severity of the illness as to whether you’ll need to collect them straight away or not, but you can discuss next steps with the staff member that has called you. You can download a copy of our Exclusion Procedure for Illness/Communicable Disease (PDF)
